Helping People With Developmental Disabilities
At HAVAR our mission is to connect people, with and without disabilities, in supportive and inclusive communities.
We are a certified provider through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. We have been serving the communities of Washington County, Ohio and Athens County, Ohio for nearly five decades, with services now provided in Meigs County, Ohio. With our team of trained, caring adults, we provide a wide array of services including Homemaker Personal Care, Service Coordination, Day Habilitation through our Building Bridges Adult Center, Community Employment Support, and Internship Opportunities.
Our Services
Homemaker Personal Care
HAVAR provides in-home support which includes help with all activities of daily living. Depending upon needs, our homemaker personal care staff can help 24 hours a day or just a few hours a week. Available assistance includes general housekeeping, cooking and nutrition, health and medical needs, paying bills, recreation, and more. This service is available through Supported Living / Individual Options, SELF, & Level 1 Waiver funding.
Service Coordination
Our experienced staff can manage payeeships for eligible individuals with a developmental disability. We can also help to access and maintain benefits, follow up on complicated medical recommendations, coordinate with other services that are available in the community, and more.
Day Habilitation Services
HAVAR’s Building Bridges Adult Center in Athens offers recreation and leisure activities such as fitness, gardening, cooking, music therapy, arts, crafts, computer skills, community inclusion, volunteerism, and more.
Community Employment Supports
Individuals desiring vocational support, evaluation, skills training, socialization, and self-determination training can also find assistance at HAVAR. We offer several models of competitive and integrated employment support throughout Washington County, Ohio, Athens County, Ohio and Meigs County, Ohio. We have helped individuals find and keep community jobs, build their own business, and acquire new work skills.
