Shelby Rhodes first began working with people with disabilities in 1986 as a personal aide for students with physical disabilities at Wright State University. He has worked as a test proctor for students with learning disabilities, a sheltered workshop specialist, a job coach, a service coordinator, and a waiver services manager. He has been the Executive Director of HAVAR since 2016 and appreciates the opportunity to continue serving persons with disabilities.
In his spare time, Shelby is an avid reader, collects movie memorabilia, and is a published fiction writer. He is married and has one adult child. His three cats demand far more attention than they deserve.

Mary Dearing started with HAVAR in 2015, with her first roles being our Weekend On-call and part-time Reception staff. She then became a Direct Support Professional / Service Coordinator, then moved on to an Account Clerk position. Mary has also served as our Compliance Officer and Business Manager, giving her a wealth of experience for her current role as Chief Financial Officer. She's been a part of the Human Resources team for six years.
In her spare time, Mary enjoys a variety of activities, many of which involve her son and grandson. She also enjoys stamp collecting, going to casinos, and researching family history in her free time.

Tara has worked at HAVAR since 2013. She embraces our mission and is happy that our services empower people, allowing them to live and thrive in their own communities, as they choose.
Tara was raised—and still lives—in Belpre. She is married with two children and one dog. When she isn’t working, she spends her time with friends and family, shopping, traveling, and skiing.
Lisa Simpson

Lisa Simpson has been with HAVAR since June of 1979! She loves the family atmosphere and the commitment to those we support. A favorite role of hers was the opportunity to help individuals map their futures utilizing the PATH (Providing Alternative Tomorrows with Hope) process--a way in which people plan for optimal inclusion in the community. More recently, Lisa has provided leadership in the Adult Day Service program, the Putt People First miniature golf course, Supported Employment, and the Residential program at HAVAR.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family (her mother, adult children, and grandchildren) and church. She's also enjoyed traveling the United States, reading Louis L'Amour western fiction with her husband, and sharing the love of Christian fiction novels with her extended family.
Kayla Walker

Kayla Walker has worked at HAVAR Inc. for over thirteen years She started at Havar as a part time Direct Support Professional while attending college. She gradually worked her way to a receptionist and eventually became a Service Coordinator, and subsequently became Hiring Specialist for Athens and Meigs Counties. After a few years she agreed to become a Program Manager.
Kayla has two daughters and likes playing board games with her oldest daughter and watching her youngest cheer.
Some things she is most proud of in life is the experiences she has been share with her children. Kayla enjoys taking country drives, watching movies, and hosting cookouts. She also enjoys planning events and staying involved with the community, and being an advocate for those we serve.

Wes Filipow started working at Havar in 2009 as a Direct Support Professional, and now serves as a Program Manager. He also helped create Havar's RAH (Recreation After Hours) Program. He enjoys helping his clients engage in their community and assisting them in achieving their life goals.
He is originally from Granville, Ohio. He moved to Athens in 2008 to attend Ohio University, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Sciences. In his spare time, he likes to play basketball and golf, attend Ohio University sports events, and spend time with his family and friends.
Andrew Henderson

What makes Andrew Henderson happy is "healthy people." His top priority is our consumers. He has been with HAVAR over sixteen years and has performed the jobs of Direct Support Professional to Medical Lead. Andrew believes imperfections are what makes us all beautiful. People consider him an “outdoorsy type,” with interests extending to running, cycling, and skiing. Local History draws his attention as well, and he has been an interpreter for The Rufus Putnam House and The WP Snyder Junior. Andrew is a vegetarian, his truck’s name is “Blackie," and his bonsai tree’s the “The One Who Sleeps.” His house is over a hundred years old and is being chiefly renovated by himself. Andrew also enjoys reading existentialism and science fiction, his favorite authors being Heinlein, Kafka, and Vonnegut. To relax, he likes to venture into the woods and photograph wildflowers.

Greg Butler grew up in Oregon on the same farm that his grandfather and his mother grew up on. He has a BA in history from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and has lived in the Athens area for eight years. Greg has worked at HAVAR for just over four of those years. His wife is a Professor at Ohio University, and his daughter just entered her Sophomore year, also at Ohio University.
When he's not working, Greg enjoys reading, traveling, and working on his own vehicles.
Linda Copeland

Linda Copeland was born in West Virgina and has lived in Ohio, Florida, Hawaii, California. She is married with three children (two sons and one daughter). She also has three dogs and adores her family pets very much. She has traveled abroad and experienced a lot in her life.
She had her own nail salon for over thirty years, where she worked as a cosmetologist. She has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development from Washington State Community College, and has worked as a Paraprofessional in California with children with Autism for two years.
Linda started at HAVAR November 2018 and has filled several roles, from Service Coordinator and Direct Support Professional, to her most current role as an Assoicate Program Manager. She is excited about being a part of the HAVAR team and is an excellent advocate for the consumers we serve.

Alexis has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration and has been with HAVAR for nearly two years. She currently services as an Associate Program Manager in Washington County.
Alexis is married with two children. She enjoys concerts, is passionate about consumer health and well-being, and enjoys caring for her many plants.
